CEREC
CEREC technology is a major advance in modern dentistry, offering fast, precise and esthetic solutions for dental restoration. At Clinique dentaire Julien & Marin, we use this cutting-edge technology to transform the dental restoration process, enabling our patients to benefit from ceramic crowns and inlays in just one appointment. Find out how this innovation can improve your dental care experience.
What Is CEREC Technology?
CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) is a computer-assisted dental restoration technique that uses a computerized robot to design and fabricate ceramic dental restorations. Unlike traditional methods, which require several visits and temporary restorations, CEREC enables custom-made crowns, inlays and other ceramic restorations to be created in a single session. The system combines digital impressions, computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) to deliver fast, accurate results.
How Does CEREC Technology Work?
1. Digital Impression Taking
Optical Scanning: During your visit to the clinic, we use a high-precision 3D scanner to capture a digital impression of your damaged tooth. This method is non-invasive and provides a detailed and accurate representation of your tooth structure.
2. Computer-Aided Design (CAD)
3D Modeling: The digital impression is sent to specialized design software, which models the ceramic dental restoration. The computer creates a virtual model of the restoration that perfectly fits the shape and size of your natural tooth, guaranteeing an aesthetic and functional result.
3. Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM)
Robotic Milling: Once the design has been approved, the virtual model is transferred to a robotic milling unit. This machine uses precision tools to machine the ceramic restoration from a block of solid ceramic material. The grinding process is fast and delivers a smooth, precise finish.
4. Fitting the Restoration
- Try-in and Adjustment: When the restoration is ready, it is tried in and adjusted to ensure a perfect fit. We make sure the new crown or inlay fits your dentition perfectly and that you're satisfied with the aesthetic result.
- Permanent Attachment: The restoration is then permanently attached to your tooth. The ceramic material used is designed to be durable and stain-resistant, offering a long-lasting solution that mimics the natural appearance of your teeth.
The Benefits of CEREC Technology
- Speed : One of the main advantages of CEREC is the speed of the process. You can have a complete dental restoration in just a few hours, reducing the number of visits needed and waiting time.
- Precision: Thanks to the use of digital impressions and robotic grinding, restorations are manufactured with exceptional precision, ensuring a perfect fit and optimal functionality.
- Aesthetics: Ceramic restorations are not only durable, but also aesthetically pleasing. They mimic the color and texture of natural teeth, offering a harmonious, discreet result.
- Comfort: The procedure is less invasive and more comfortable than traditional methods, thanks to digital impressions and the single appointment required, involving a single local anaesthetic.
